Every year, the Augusta Bar Association hosts a Law Day celebration banquet. A non-attorney community leader is annually presented with the Liberty Bell award for their outstanding public service. This year, we are proud to announce that our board member Reverend Terence Dicks was the recipient of the 2019 Liberty Bell Award!
Rev. Dicks is a longtime community and civil rights activist in Augusta. He founded and operates the “Claiming a Street Named King” initiative. The initiative aims to revitalize low-income neighborhoods and streets in Augusta named after Martin Luther King Junior and other historical black figures.
Dicks is also a member of several committees and organizations such as the Augusta Progressive Religious Coalition, the Georgia Center for Children and Education, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, and the Georgia Appleseed Center Education Advisory Council.
