Creating opportunities out of poverty is a major part of GLSP’s mission. Preserving or securing income is a priority. We represent clients seeking to obtain or preserve unemployment benefits, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Food Stamps, Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, and other public assistance, with a focus on persons with disabilities and those who are limited English proficient. GLSP also assists clients in resolving legal problems related to access to childcare, transportation, transitional health coverage, and other support services, which will remove barriers to employment and lead to greater financial independence. We represent clients with consumer problems that could lead to garnishment of wages or loss of an automobile needed for travel to the job or medical care.
